Another high school coach's insight into single
elimination:
SE tournaments are a thorn in the side to schools on
limited budgets, so we (like many colleges and
universities, I'm sure) have to be really choosy about where
and when we travel. (I can't believe more of you
aren't complaining about THAT.) It's disappointing to
drive for four hours on a bus and then get knocked out
of a tournament after one thirty-minute game. It's
especially hard on teams like mine that are notorious slow
starters who need a game under their belt before they
really come alive. But if there's one thing I've learned
in playing, coaching and reading the messages posted
here, it's that qb is less about winning and more about
playing for the fun factor.
