Re: Trivia Challenge Online - And a Note of Civility

Although I have absolutely no intention of starting another useless,
space-wasting flamewar on this board, which most certainly is better
used for discussion of upcoming quizbowl events, the blatant
offensiveness, obtrusiveness and sarcasm begged a reply so much that
I had to indulge. I will try to keep my post shorter than yours,
which - if I may note, was far longer and more obtrusive than my
original "oblivious spamming".

This issue was actually settled long ago, when moderator Dom Ricci
stated: "An unobtrusive advertisement for an online trivia
competition is within the conceivable realm of interest for
quizbowlers and will be treated as such." (Message #10868) I do not
feel that one small post for an absolutely free trivia game on a non-
profit site with no advertisements is enough to be considered
obtrusive. I was not planning to post reminders for the game, nor
will I in the future. Your respose was, while admittedly humorous
and admirably eloquent at times, both obtrusive and a waste of
everyone's bandwidth, as the issue is currently a moot point.

I will not waste any more of the space on this board for this issue,
which as I have said is dead in the water, but I will apologize to
anyone who is offended by my posts. I only wish to help by
providing a free forum of practice for quiz-bowlers. I apologize as
I object, and hope that in the future we can maintain a better level
of civility on this board.

Best Regards,
Ben Stewart

P.S. I have not enclosed qbtunagirl's message (#12004), which I am
replying to, as it was so long it would have been a major waste of
space. I also will not post any more on this topic, as enough time
and space has been wasted already doing so.
