ANNOUNCEMENT: Princeton Competition of Knowledge 2003

Since I am roughly a third finished with writing with two and half
more months to go, I think it is safe to make an official announcement
for PRICK 2003.

The tournament is still scheduled for October 18, 2003, at Princeton
and will be an in-house written tournament (i.e. no packet
submission). The questions will be somewhere in between ACF Regionals
and ACF Nationals difficulty, with a skew toward the latter. Just as
a disclaimer since almost all of the teams who have contacted have
little or no ACF Nationals experience: The questions are being written
with a more experienced field in mind and will be a noticeable step up
from Buzzerfest in difficulty. While I am trying my damnedest to keep
everything accessible to a mainstream audience, I would just advise
interested teams to look over Wildcat and ACF Nationals packets from
the ACF website to get a feel for the material.

With that said, the following teams have so far expressed interest:
Maryland, VCU, Cornell, Rutgers, Rutgers-Newark, Chris White from
Swarthmore. Just so I know how many rooms to reserve, I'd appreciate
any interested teams not listed to express interest by e-mail ASAP and
for listed teams to contact me with a confirmation once one is
available. The entry fee will be $100, with $10 off for buzzers
(limit 2) and a negotiable travel discount for qualifying teams. My
e-mail is cfrankel (at) princeton.edu.

Finally, I am greatly interested in mirroring the tournament for a
wider audience. So far a Northwestern represntative has hinted at
hosting a Midwestern mirror, although I'd be up for Southern and West
Coast mirrors as well. I can be flexible on dates and fees, so if
anyone's interested in a hardcore fall tournament but unable to make
the trip to Princeton, let me know.
