Re: request

Chuck Wessel, whom I last heard was still working in the Triangle,
and after whom the "Wesselmania" tournaments at N. C. State held in
the 90's were named, was the stalwart scorer of that program. Ben
Lea, whom I last heard of at Missouri-Rolla, was also a memorable
player.

The '87 NCT was broadcast on the Disney Channel. The N. C. State
library may have tapes; I know the College Bowl Company, Inc. does.

In 1968, N.C. State's College Bowl team was clobbered by Brandeis on
live TV. The game was played May 19, 1968; so campus newspapers from
around that date will have stories and player names.

Some of this is from memory, and some is from the College Bowl web
site www.collegebowl.com, where the best records they have of school
histories dating back to 1959 are available on-line. Records of the
radio years 1953-1959 are not yet available; although the existence
of tapes of about 100 of those shows in a private collection in New
England make that possible someday.
