Brief TRASH Mid-Atlantic Results

Nineteen teams convened on Swarthmore for the second half of our "Old Friends"
tournament weekend, TRASH: Keep the Customer Satisfied. Who Wants to Watch
the Next Joe Millionaire (Samer Ismail, Kenny Peskin, Bob Gross, and Andrew
Hutchings) swept the field with 9-0 prelim and 3-0 playoff record to win the
tournament and a "Big Mouth Billy Bass Superstar!", a non-wall-mounted version
of the infamous icthyoid; he sings idiosyncratic versions of "Act Naturally"
and "I Will Survive". Kidder Notorious (you-know-who) won second (and a Care
Bears UNO set in a Collectible Tin) with two losses due to his head-to-head
victory over Fear the Kool Aid Man (Adam Fine, Arthur Fleming, Mike Starsinic,
and Phil Durkos), which also had two losses (They won a Simpsons Magic
8-Ball). Rounding out the top bracket was A Social Concern: The Media is
Desirous that our Team Does Well (Delaware); 17 or 35 Points of Flair (I
think) (GWU Alums); and Allentown B.

Awards were given to the top 4 scorers: you-know-who was first; Kenny of
WWTWTNJM was second; and of the other two one escapes my mind while one was
Tim from ...Flair. Awards were books by Robert Ludlum, Philip K. Dick, Dave
Barry, and Charles Barkley. Two people (James of Rutgers-NB and Hot&Spicy of
Law and Order: Special Poultry Unit) shared the neg prize. The planned neg
prize was "The Big Book Of Bodily Functions", while for the second one I
pressed into emergency service "Why We Lost the ERA" from an extremely dry
poli sci class I took 2 years ago.

Full stats will eventually be posted, along acknowledgements, comments, and
bad negs, but that may take a while, due to my having neglected real life for
about a week and needing to catch up, as well as a couple other factors I will
detail later. (Comments will probably appear before stats.) (I will say that
this ran considerably smoother than SNEWT the day before, due mainly to us
being prepared to deal with a) cantankerous pizza places and b) playoff dropouts.)
