Announcement- Rex Grossman Memorial Trash Tournament


The University of Florida will be holding the Rex Grossman Memorial 
on Sunday, January 18th 2003. This is the day after the non-trash 
Sunshine State Invitational at UF on MLK Weekend. The tournament will 
be a packet-submission tournament (any playoff rounds will be written 
by UF) and should be over by 4pm for those with longer drives back.

The tournament format will most likely be a round robin. Rounds will
consist of 20 untimed tossups with one lame available to each team. 
There will be suitably trashy prizes awarded at the conclusion of the 
tournament.  All carbon-based life forms are eligible to play. Free 
agents can contact Michael Napier at the address below for placement.

Costs -
$75 1st team
$65 2nd team
$50 3rd team (all teams must submit packs)
-$10 for out-of-state teams
-$10 for buzzers
-$15 for packs by 12/1/03
-$10 for packs by 12/15/03
+$ 0 for packs by 12/29/03
+$10 for packs by 01/06/04
+$15 for packs by 01/13/04
+$25 for no pack submission
(if all teams submit packs, there will be several playoff rounds)

Pack breakdown
Packs should consist of 21 tossups
and 22 bonuses of moderate difficulty (If you are the
only member of your entire squad to have heard of a
subject, it may be too hard) with the following general
breakdown

3-4 sports (no more than 2 of a particular kind)
3-4 film (no more than 2 from any decade)
3-4 television (no more than 2 from any decade)
3-4 music (no more than 2 from any decade)
2-3 trashy literature (including comics)
2-3 miscellaneous trash
