ANNOUNCEMENT-Aztlán Cup at UCLA: March 6, 2004

This is an announcement for Aztlán Cup I: The Struggle for 
California's Independence Begins Now, a tournament to be held at 
UCLA on Saturday, March 6, 2004. This tournament will not feature 
required packet submission, but the submission of packets will be 
strongly encouraged through significant financial compensation. 

ELIGIBILITY:
All teams are welcome to play in the Aztlán Cup and all teams will 
be eligible for the championship. There will be one division, 
although prizes may be given out to top novice teams.

RULES:
Aztlán Cup will be an untimed tournament with difficulty slightly 
below ACF Regionals, akin to other West Coast packet submission 
tournaments. ACF rules will be followed, except that teams will be 
allowed to confer non-verbally and all bonus part answers will be 
read unless otherwise stated.

FEE STRUCTURE:
Base Fee: $100
Second Team: -$20
Third Team: -$30
Full Packet submitted by 11:59 PM, January 26, 2004: -$50
Full Packet submitted by 11:59 PM, February 16, 2004: -$30
Half Packet submitted by 11:59 PM, January 26, 2004: -$25*
Half Packet submitted by 11:59 PM, February 16, 2004: -$15
(Note: if a team submits a half packet by the first deadline, they 
can submit a second half packet by the 2/16 deadline to receive a 
total discount of $40)
Working Buzzer System: -$5 each (maximum of 2)
Approved Moderator Provided: -$15
Minimum Fee: $30

quizbowl at ucla dot edu

PACKET TRADE:
We are looking for tournaments to trade questions with, so if 
there's a tournament on a similar date that wants to trade with 
Aztlán Cup, send me an e-mail. Also, if anyone wants to submit a 
freelance packet, they will be rewarded either with questions from 
the tournament or a packet submitted by UCLA to the tournament of 
their choice.
