I am posting because a lot of people have been
asking why Georgetown was not at NAQT this past weekend.
Indeed, I was very surprised to return to town on Monday
and discover that Georgetown was supposed to be at
NAQT at all.
In December two members
of our team emailed several programs in one day and
asked for additional information on their tournaments,
as well as how much it would cost to send two teams
with no buzzers. There seems to have been a
misunderstanding with UVA, and Georgetown was somehow registered
for two teams. It is possible that the email was
misleading. Unfortunately neither the boy from Georgetown nor
UVA have a copy of the email. In the end, UVA held
two spots for us though they had never heard a
confirmation in case we did come.
So while I am
sorry that teams or UVA may have been inconvenienced by
this, I can say that no one here knew we were supposed
to be at the tournament this past weekend and were
all shocked when we were told we were no shows. We
have talked with UVA, and we seem to all be in
agreement that this was all a mixup.
