Buzzer System Labels

Hello all,

Having worked in enough stat rooms and tournament headquarters and watching
teams retrieve their buzzers made me realize something very important.

Many Judges (and Zeecrafts and Quik Pros) look alike, and it's very hard to
read labels that are written in very small letters (especially on the white
space on a Judge.) This creates a general sense of chaos when so many teams
want to get their buzzer and go after a tournament is over.

In order to facilitate a quicker departure, teams may want to consider any
of the following labeling methods, all of which are relatively inexpensive
and very effective in differentiating your buzzer from another schools:

* A lanyard from your school/university. Michigan has used this for several
years and it has been quite a help.

* A Vinyl Sticker for your school or university, similar to those applied to
external car windows. Several schools have done this and have made it
easier to find their buzzer quickly.

Also, another minor quibble. Many programs have multiple buzzers, for which
tournament directors are extremely grateful for their use. That said,
especially if you have multiple buzzers in multiple boxes, it can help a
tournament director if they are labeled A, B, C (or 1, 2, 3) and such. In
doing this, the disparate parts can be put together again quickly.

I know these are seemingly minor things and I apologize to those who feel
that I have wasted their time with a message that asks for common courtesy
and assistance from teams. But having seen how many teams want to get out
at the end of a tournament before the finals, this would help facilitate
that process.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
