some more details on the Brandeis hybrid tourney

These come from Mehrun, and they are kind of rambling, which makes
them similar to my posts :) . Some of the details may change
slightly, but at least this give you a better idea. For the weird
tiebreaker he mentions, they are thinking of a champagne Kola drink-
off. And the date is still May 1st. So far, four non-brandeis teams
have expressed interest. I don't believe there will be any fees, but
I am not sure, it may be one of those, donate what you are
comfortable sort of events. So here's Meh, oh and if you have any
suggested rule changes, e-mail me or Meh.

"As we envision it, each packet (of which each team should write
one) will consist of 21 tossups (20 are read, with there being one
extra question in case of repeats that need to be thrown out): 10
academic, 10 trash/pop-culture, and 1 physical challenge (which
should be included somewhere in the first 20 questions to ensure
that it's read). Ties will be settled with some wacky rule that
we'll come up with. Also, a special rule for this tourney is that
bonuses will correspond to tossups. For example, if you write
tossup number 15 on college basketball, write bonus 15 on college
basketball too. Teams answering a tossup correctly will get the
corresponding bonus (so there will be no lame bonuses). Besides
that, there is no required distribution -- however, just remember
that we're planning some sort of penalty for teams that write bad
packets (any packet in which less than 60% of the tossups are
answered overall will qualify). So that's a quick overview that
should help you -- I look forward to hearing from you. Times:
Probably the usual start time of around 9, but we will do everything
humanly possible to make sure it ends no later than 4.
Let me know when you finalize the teams -- and you can just bring
the packet to the tournament. Thanks,
