To move discussion to something perhaps less flame-incurring.... --- In quizbowl_at_yahoogroups.com, "nicolas_walters" <Sywolf_at_a...> wrote: I would ask > the TD's of other junior birds to consider making their tournaments > CUT-style as well. If we take "CUT-style" to refer simply to eligibility rules with no bearing on the actual questions being used, I am curious to hear what people think about those eligibility rules (found at http://orgs.carleton.edu/quizteam/CUT5.html) and whether tournaments that offer constrained participation for experienced players are better or worse than junior birds with strict limits based on years in school. Do they end up being a bit of a logistical burden because you need more staff for the same number of players? Do they affect the atmosphere of a tournament? Are there players who are actually more willing to play at a CUT-style tournament than others? Does it feel like there is more parity in the field from the perspective of a player? How would you change the rules if you didn't want to base eligibility on performance at the NAQT ICT? Just a few questions people might answer in thinking about the subject. Anthony
