FOGHAT: Reminder & Field Update

Just a quick reminder there is still time to register for FOGHAT, my
open trash tournament scheduled for Sunday, October 24th at the
University of Missouri-Rolla, the day after Rollapalooza an academic
tourney. The FOGHAT question set was used in an 11-team tourney at
Tennessee Chattanooga over the weekend and seemed to get very positive
reviews. Full announcment is below. E-mail me at jeremy_white _at_
squirrelsociety.org if you would like to register or have questions.

I am writing to announce and kindly ask you to consider attending my
fifth annual trash (pop culture and sports) quiz bowl tournament,
F.O.G.H.A.T. 2004: Fifth Time I Was a Fool. FOGHAT will be held at my
alma mater, Missouri-Rolla, on October 24th at McNutt Hall in the
shadows of the campus' half-scale working model of Stonehenge. FOGHAT
is an open tournament--anyone is eligible to play! This is also the
day after and on the same campus UMR's Rollapalooza, so if you're
coming in for the meaty academic quiz bowl, stick around on Sunday for
the sweet, gooey dessert.

There will be many fabulous trashy prizes. I intend to continue the
tradition of awarding a prize to more than half of the participants.
The winning team this year will receive a prize package that includes
the traditional Fog Hat and an actual power tool. Oh no, I've already
said too much.

The packets are also shaping up to be sublimely trashy. I am writing
the questions along with Ben Lea, Jason Schwengler and some of the
fine folks at UT-Chattanooga. UTC will again be mirroring the
question set--or perhaps more accurately foreshadowing it--at the Big
Lots Open tourney on Oct. 17th. I mention this so you know that if
you're going to Big Lots, we obviously can't let you play in FOGHAT.

Fee:
Base is $70 but can be as low as $40 by getting the...
- $10 discount for buzzer set
- $10 discount for competent volunteer
- $10 for any member of the team participating in Rollapalooza

If you have any questions, want to register or want to show up as a
free agent, write me at this address, jeremy_white _at_ squirrelsociety.org

Thanks,

Jeremy White
