Jeopardy...

Hi, all!

While I was out in California for
a pair of job interviews, I decided for the heck of
it to try out for Jeopardy. I didn't study all that
much, as I was putting together three talks for my job
interviews, and the sum total of my studying was reading some
on the plane. Much to my surprise, I was one of the
4 people out of 52 who passed the test.

My
mock game went okay, although I didn't buzz in on a
few questions, misspoke on an Elements question and
said "Radon" instead of "Radium". (bloody jet lag...)
However, I think I did fine, was witty and charming, and
all that good stuff.

I'll be in the contestant
pool for all next season (taping July-February), and
the guy said to me as I was leaving "Hope to see you
soon.", so who knows?

I suppose the question I
have for those of you who did College Jeopardy and
those now in the real world who've been on the show is,
what was your mock game experience like? Did the
people you compete with all do astonishingly well on
it?

I'm not going to stress about this too much, as I do
have a Ph.D. thesis to write and all, but any comments
you guys have would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!
Paul
(who almost missed a question on Britney Spears in the
50-question test... and I think I would have been okay with
that.)
