Re: BBIV stuff

I made this mistake entirely by hand. The most
advanced technology I used that day was a mechanical
pencil. I chalk it up, basically, to fatigue and
understaffing; I played ACF the day before, which ran long, and
we were at a bare minimum of staff all day, so I had
nobody to check me. Tempting as it may be to
Ludditically lament, it's just as easy to miscopy a number
onto a chalkboard as into a spreadsheet. Of the errors
that happened at Beltway, not one can be ascribed
directly to "computer error."

And while we're on
that subject...umm...when will Penn Bowl results be
up? :)

general, I've noticed a string of these kinds of problems
lately: namely, tournament officials miscalculating
somebody's W/L record, etc. This seems correlated with the
rise of fancy computer programs used during the
tournaments to do stats."
