High school tourney at University of Cincinnati

I am writing this letter to inform you of a new academic quiz team tournament held at the University of Cincinnati. The UC Academic Quiz Team is going to host the first Bearcat Buzzerbowl High School Tournament on Saturday April 15th, 2006. Here are some of the details for the tournament:

  When: Saturday, April 15th 2006
  Round Robin play from 9AM-12:30PM,
Playoffs for top finishers from 1:30PM - 5PM

  Where: University of Cincinnati

Cost: $60 base fee per team. $10 discount for teams which bring buzzers. Additional $10 discount for early registration. $40 minimum fee. Registration fee does not include lunch or parking. Please make payments on the day of the tournament.

Tournament Format: We will play by the rules upheld by the National Academic Quiz Tournaments association. Please visit the website (www.naqt.com/rules) for a complete
outline of formal rules. The UC quiz team may choose to make minor changes to these rules for this tournament, and we will be sure to inform you in advance of any significant changes.

Approximate Field Size: 20 teams maximum. Maximum of 2 teams per high school. Preference will be given to the first teams which respond.

The tournament is geared toward Kentucky-Ohio-Indiana tristate high schools, but I will allow other schools to participate if they express interest. This tournament should be a good opportunity for your high school team to gain quizbowl experience and visit the rennovated UC campus. Since I am continuing to plan this tournament, some of the details in this letter may be changed, but the date of April 15, 2006 is finalized.

If you have any other questions or suggestions regarding the tournament, feel free to e-mail me. I hope to see you in April!
