So, your opinion is that us academic folks are just pissy because a
vote about moving cancel bowl polling mostly trash partisans (many of
whom also play academic quizbowl) playing a free tournament (fake or
otherwise) for which they had already written a packet and were
already signed up resulted in trash winning out? I'd say that's
inevitable. The poll is moot. People aren't mad because the teams
voted for fake trash. People are mad because (hey, maybe if you
actually read what people are mad about, you would know this) cancel
bowl blatantly stepped on another tournament's date. Your
self-righteous "the people voted for trash, so academic should just
suck it up and accept that it lost fair and square!" idiocy makes
absolutely no sense and no difference, because guess what, trash or
not, cancel bowl not capitulating to BUTT was still wrong. I would
make the same argument had Jerry (or anyone else) announced after Mark
(or any other trash, fake or otherwise) and done nothing to rectify
the situation. Yeah, I agree, Mr. Frankel's idea is off the mark, but
before you make broad statements about everyone's opinions maybe you
should get off your trash high horse and accept that this was just one
quizbowler being disrespectful to another.
