It seems to me the perfect solution is to make a
moderated newsgroup. Back in the dark ages when
alt.college.college-bowl was uninhabited by meowers, crossposters, and
trolls, it was a very efficient medium for quiz bowl
communication. The organization of topics by heading, rather
than in an unordered list made following discussions
much easier. Also, there were far fewer complaints
about threads that strayed a little bit, as no one's
mailbox was being filled.
I still have a copy of
the RFD for rec.games.quizbowl that was written long
ago by Tim Young. I'm willing to moderate a group,
and I'm sure that a few others could be found as
well. I envision the group being very lightly
moderated, akin to the current qb list moderation. Is anyone
interested in giving newsgroup creation another try?
