It would be irresponsible of me not to point out
on behalf of geeks and bergeeks everywhere that
elves and orcs are character RACES, not character
classes. Character class determines what skills you can
learn, what weapons you can use, whether you can learn
spells, how many hit points you gain per
level...character race makes its biggest difference at character
generation, but by and large only means a point added or
subtracted to a statistic (unless the Dungeon Master gets
into sociology, which is cool).
And for the
record, I'm a sixth-level half-elven
mage/bard.
