Sorry, but
it's been a boring day, so I feel some strange need to
correct Mr. Schleussel here.

D&D, as was
specifically mentioned, makes a specific differentiation
between human character classes and non-human races -
there are only "dwarves" in D&D, not dwarven fighters
or clerics.
As such, a dwarf in D&D is both a
race and a class. AD&D does differentiate between the
two - one must choose both a character race and
class.
