Re: Capitol Punishment II: Brief-brief

As promised, slightly more detailed
results.

Capitol Punishment II was held at George Washington
University on 15 July 2000.

EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
-----------------
The #2 seed Vulgar Display of Power (Dave Vacca, Tim
Young, Phil Castagna, Jon Needle) defeated the #1 seed
Mark Chmura's Babysitter Club (Kenny Peskin, Mike
Burger, Alex Hovan, Dwight Kidder) 290-185 to win the
title.

Tim took home a double victory, as he also won the
Century of Tunes competition, pulling away convincingly
from Phil Castagna in the final five questions of the
second round.

Due to the high sound quality of
the song snippets we played at Century of Tunes, I
severely doubt I would have been much of a factor had I
been participating.
:)

Full results, including individual statistics, will be
published later this week.

A thank-you goes out to
the following people who wrote questions and/or
moderated: Edmund Schluessel, Patrick Hunter-Kilmer, Mark
Goldfarb, Brendan Drew, Stephen Snyder, Rebecca Hart,
Hayden Hurst, Brick Barrientos.

Another thank-you
goes out to the teams who participated and made CP2 a
success. We grew nearly 100% from last year, and I would
like to see 14-15 teams come out for next year's
fixture.

Capitol Punishment III will be in July
2001, likely on the beautiful campus of George Mason
University.

I will be stepping down as director of
future Capitol Punishments, due to increased
obligations; I am getting married on Saturday! However, I will
continue to edit and attempt to ensure question quality.

As expressed before, I hope to make Capitol
Punishment a fixture on the summer circuit. I know I don't
speak for Bryce, but I do believe that Every Man For
Himself will also be held that weekend, but not on the
same day :)

Again, thanks to all who attended.
These results will also be posted to the Yahoo club
board.

Director, Capitol
Punishment II
