Results: Western Mirror Chi Open Singles

On
Sunday, Berkeley held a mirror event of the 2000 Eric
Hillemann Singles Tournament. In an exciting final between
Andy Felton and last-minute entry Philip Huang, Andy
held a 75-45 lead going into tossup 18, but Phil
rolled off five straight tossups (three to send the game
into overtime, followed by the first two overtime
questions) to clinch victory, and won 95-80. In all, 25
players competed; they were assigned seeds based on
their
performance in three preliminary rounds. The field was then
split into two double-elimination brackets of 13 and
12. In the consolation bracket, Chris Nolte defeated
Matt Bruce in what I'm told was also a
closely-contested final. Thanks to all who participated and/or
helped out,
and also to Subash for writing what was
generally agreed to be a very good and accessible set of
questions.
