As a rap and r&b fan (which is why K IMed me and
told me I should write), I can say from personal
experience that the music is something you can dance to
(which is nice) and for some of the songs, the subject
material applies to things that go on in my life and in my
friends' lives.
It might be hard for Non-urban rich
people to understand but rap is the musical part of
urban culture, poetry to music isn't anything
new.
