Re: Juniorbirds vs. ACF

<<<While many freshmen may not want to
immediately jump into questions such as those found (or
thought to be found) at tournaments such as Cornell's or
Maryland's, it's just not right to assume none of them would
want to play in both a juniorbird and a normal-level
tournament. >>>

While I don't think Josh is
equating the questions for Cornell's BRRR to Marylands
Terrapin Invitational, perhaps others are. So I just
wanted to clarify. (Though I am not the tournament
director, I was present when we hammered out the format, so
I can speak with some authority) Cornell doesn't
want to host a tournament as difficult or challenging
to younger players as the Terrapin.

But we
are hosting an untimed, full round-robin,
question-submission tournament w/o power tossups. AFAIK, that is
"modified ACF" format. (I can't think of a better way to
describe it.) We are not trying for ACF difficulty, just
their general style of gameplay.

Please
understand that distinction. While an ACF tournament would
probably be too difficult for most inexperienced players,
there is no reason younger players cannot be
competitive and have a good time at the Big Red Royal
Rumble.

All questions regarding the Rumble should be directed
to anwar_at_...; All questions for the
Cornell AQO should be directed to

Thanks,
Kenny
