Re: Showing Off

<<This is a tough issue because the
ajudication can be so subjective. How does one differentiate
between:

A) a player giving an incorrect answer to inject
humor into a lopsided game
B) a player giving a long
answer to run out clock
C) a player giving a long
blitz just to make sure they hit the correct
answer
D) a player appears to be showing off just because
they are excited that the subject came
up>>

Again, we are talking about two different things. I am
talking specifically about alternate answers that are so
long and esoteric that they should *not* reasonably be
expected to come up (see my previous
posts).

Besides which, I am also referring to a timed tournament
like Penn Bowl, in which giving such an answer *does*
have some sort of ramification on the game. If a match
is untimed, I have significantly less objection to
'flip' answers. [I *still* don't plan to list the IUPAC
name for vancomycin anytime soon, though. :)
