Activism & Language

It's come to my attention that various people
don't appreciate my posts alleging malfeasance against
Questions Unlimited and Chip Beall.

Addressing each
crowd at a time:
--To those who don't have any
interest in the subject at all: Ignore the posts. This is
the "quizbowl" club, not the "aspects of quizbowl
that some one person cares about right now" club.
There are plenty of threads here that, to me, are much
less relevant than this, and I certainly don't show my
"disinterest" by complaining to the authors of the posts or
third parties, nor am I the least bit irked that a
conversation is going on which doesn't interest
me.

--To those who believe these accusations should not be
made in a public forum: At what point should problems
be brought here? I think plagiarism rises to the
highest level of qb-related misconduct, and raising the
community's knowledge of it is the first proper response. As
I've said before, if this isn't important enough to
warrant discussion here, just what is?

--To those
concerned about language: I have refrained from cursing or
ranting, although admittedly I have used some very strong
other words in these posts. It should be obvious that I
am angry about what has gone on. If my words rise to
the level of the irrational or the needlessly
personal, I will try to curb that, but again--at what point
does an offense demand strong language, if this one
does not?

If you don't care about any of the
above, the link to the next post is at the upper
right.
