Re: NAQT SCT Southeast Quick Results

"How does 17 rounds -- timed, no less -- work out
to "almost 12 hours"? Even if you allow a generous
30 minutes per round -- and that's kind of a lot for
a tournament with two 9-minute halves -- that's
only 8 1/2 hours."

Yes, it would be nice if we
lived in an ideal world where when one round ended, the
next round instantaneously began, and no delays were
seen at all, and nobody ate lunch. But we
don't.

Let's use some general estimates
here:

Tournament introduction and rules meeting = 45 minutes
25
minutes per round * 17 = 7 hours, 5 minutes
(18 of
playing time, ~1 for TOs/Buzzer Checks, ~2 between
halves/scorechecks, 2 getting names down, ~2 or so for straggling
players/officials to get into the rooms)

Lunch = 1 hour, 30
minutes
10 minutes between rounds * 17 = 2 hours, 50
minutes

So, let's see, that's about 12 hours, 10 minutes.
It's quite possible, you see.
