Screech's illness arose from the ski trip that
the gang came back from at the beginning of the
episode. I think Zack made him carry all his stuff or
something like that.
The Zack timeout thing was an
example of deus ex machina, to be used only when the
writers felt too lazy to actually write a decent plot
turn.
