Re: A Random Question

I actually have an M.S., not an M.B.A. That being
said, kinesology is not a wasted major, it helps for
those anatomy and physiology questions.

However, I do think the business majors
(accounting/operations management/marketing etc.) are underrepresented.
Accounting and operations management are difficult because
of Victoria's postulate, it's too technical. How
would you distill all of the different elements in a
10-K report or assembly line balancing in a question?
You can't. For marketing or human resources, those
disciplines tend to be too abstract for easily distilled
answers.

As I looked through the NAQT eligibility sheets last
year and noticed that I think more people were history
majors than any other. I find that fascinating mainly
because you (and Lit majors) are tested one way in your
classes (essays and papers) and tested an entirely
different way in quiz bowl (Grandgrind-like recitation of
facts). You maybe real successful at quiz bowl, and I
know you've been successful at your major because I
hear from you at least once a week, usually when
you're asking if I would like another refill of my soft
drink (just kidding, folks).
