I've got a feeling you can't do it as a first
degree major over there, but here in the UK, Law is
easily the most useless subject for quizbowl. British
competitions don't ask anything beyond "pop law" (i.e. those
silly bits that aren't really law at all, like daft
procedures and titles and stuff), while in the US, British
law is absolutely no use at all.
To give you
an idea of the uselessness: on University Challenge,
they like to tailor questions in the first couple of
rounds to people's subjects. The best they could do for
law was a picture round asking "name these prisons
from a photo". Yes, of course. Law students sit and
look at prisons all day. Grrr.
