TRASHionals remarks

Hello, everyone. TRASHionals 01 was a wonderful
experience, to which most others in attendance can also
attest. The TRASH people deserve praise for getting their
collective house in order and eliminating the logistical
problems that plagued TRASHionals 99. The only such
problems this weekend were with the L. :P

	There
were problems with the question content,
though...

1) Too much golf.
2) Too much auto racing.
3)
Too much rap.
4) Too much recent/semirecent Top
40.

The overall amount of sport was just about right, but
there was more golf and more auto racing than baseball
or basketball. This is ridiculous. Also, what the
hell was up with all the pre-World War II hockey? If
the questions were any indication, the sport ceased
to exist for about 40 years.

	Ive harped on
the absence of non-Top 40 R&B in trash play for 3
years now, and TRASHionals is a major culprit. After
making strides last year toward correcting the problem,
this years distribution regressed in a big way. Lets
see...Lady Marmalade, Otis Redding, Sly, Dr. John and Stevie
Wonder. Thats it. For a 16-round trash tournament,
thats pathetic.

	However, the weekend was
terrific anyway. My teammates were great people, and I
look forward to seeing them again. Dismiss this if you
will as ranting from someone who felt he was robbed of
his best trash strengths, but addressing these
problems really would make for a far more representative
popular culture experience. In any case, thank you for
your patience.
