Re: Science Questions

<<This is the kind of response that makes
someone like Daniel uncomfortable with
QB.>>

Objective scientific facts do not change because someone is
"uncomfortable" with them. If he's uncomfortable with the real
world, that is 100% his
problem.

<<Creationists believe it's just as fair to say that evolution
is akin to alchemy since, as paleontologist G.G.
Simpson once wrote: "It is inherent in any definition of
science that statements that cannot be checked by
observation are not about anything...or at the very best,
they are not science.">>

1) There are
plenty of definitions of science that don't say
that.
2) Evolution is observed constantly. "Evolution"
means "change in allele frequencies over time." You can
observe it yourself in any given population.
3)
Specifically, even speciation is observed all the time. see
<a href=http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-speciation.html target=new>http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-speciation.html</a>
4) While the specific case of man's descent from a
common ancestor of the apes cannot be observed in the
basic sense of actually seeing it as it happens, there
is overwhelming evidence for
it.

<<Since science means "to know" and "systematized
knowledge derived from observation, study, etc." It is
based on observation and experimentation. Evolutionists
don't "know" anything about man's origins. They guess,
suppose, etc. but they don't "know.">>

Yes
they do. see

It's absolutely tragic to see such an
anti-intellectual thread on this board in the first place.
Creationism is religious faith, and as long as it stays in
that domain, I won't pretend that argument can show it
to be true or false, since that's not how religion
operates.

However, when "creationism's" proponents encroaches on the
domain of science, those who wish to see civilization
continue must make it quite clear that there is no
evidence for creationism, it is a front for theocrats and
the forces of ignorance, every last one of its
leading spokesmen is a liar and a fraud intent on
destroying the separation of church and state, and to
believe in it as a SCIENTIFIC theory is to practice
willful ignorance of knowledge and reason.
