Re: Quizbowl camp

While I haven't personally experienced a quizbowl
camp, for several years I taught Greek mythology for a
Gifted and Talented "camp," i.e. a one-week residential
program held on a college campus. Somehow I think most of
those kids were potential quizbowlers...anyway, as far
a "having better things to do in the summer" goes,
many of these students (aged 9-14) were ecstatic at
being in classes all day long with other bright kids,
learning interesting material they weren't getting in
regular public schools. A big part of it was finding out
they had peers, that there were other kids out there
with similar abilities/interests. and aren't most of
us in quizbowl because of shared
interests?
