Re: Calling My Bluff

<<Again you're speaking out of your ass,
Andy.>>

In your rush to excoriate Goss, you forgot that he
mentioned "(for many of my teammates -- as said before,
I'll play damn near anything)" ... in that the opinion
he was stating was THAT OF HIS TEAMMATES. Andy said
I'LL PLAY DAMN NEAR ANYTHING.

I can speak for
myself, my teammates at Randolph-Macon didn't care for
ACF. They found every excuse in the book to avoid it
after having played on the Stanford archive version of
it.

<<Other teams could only afford to go to one national
tournament, and since there's usually a bigger NAQT
contingent at most schools, they win.>>

Dave,
why do you think this is the
case?

<<What is your reasoning behind the statement that ACF
is only interested in the best
teams?>>

Again, let's ask the 'bigger NAQT contingent' why they
prefer NAQT over ACF.

<<I made a concerted
effort to recruit new teams for Nationals this year, and
ACF has traditionally offered discounts and other
incentives to inexperienced teams. In addition, the ACF
question archive is available free for teams that want to
get better; the other formats makes you pay a
crapload for old questions.>>

This is
correct. ACF has made an effort to reach out over the past
several years; sadly, the prejudices of past years have
been laid down.

Should quizbowl be an activity
that calls for a high level of committment from all
its players? Or are weekend warriors
welcome?

<<Also, why the hell are you babbling about CBI if you
have so little experience with it?>>

How
much experience do YOU have with CBI,
Dave?

<<Every time someone dares to say something inflammatory
on this list, you start flailing about like a
decapitated chicken.>>

Kenny was the first one
to reply to Edmund's post.

<<Maybe it
would be more constructive to allocate the time you
spend posting to studying for
quizbowl.>>

I know, the nerve of Andy to post on a public
forum.
