According to their website, the 2001 ASCN
championship was won by Fort Smith Northside High School of
Fort Smith AR, who beat Brookwood (GA) in the finals
325-300.
Northside also defeated Riverdale (TN) 520-260 in the
semifinals and Eisenhower (MI) in the quarters.
As
someone in this region who's used to seeing powerful
teams out of Northside, I'm surprised to see that
Northside didn't even make the "others receiving votes"
category in the recent poll. Oops. (Disclaimer: I didn't
vote--I haven't seen anyone outside the OK/AR/TX region
this year.)
