Anthony's Self-Serving Hubristic Invitat

As previously announced, George Washington
University has agreed to host Anthony's Self-Serving
Hubristic Invitational Tournament, a tournament completely
written by yours truly.

The tournament will be
held on August 18th at 9am in the basement of Monroe
Hall (21st & G St.) at GWU. All interested parties
should confirm their attendance by e-mailing
trivia_at_... asap; Jon Needle be the TD, and can be reached at
that address. Buzzers and moderators are sorely
needed; deadline for sign-ups is Wed., August 15. Jon
will post further details, including pricing
structure, at
<a href=http://www.gwu.edu/~trivia/hubris.html. target=new>http://www.gwu.edu/~trivia/hubris.html.</a>

Tentatively, pending GWU approval, the cost for this
tournament will involve a base fee of $80. We'll put the
buzzer/competent moderator discount at -$10. Should you be able to
recruit your friends to play against you such that the
number of teams is greater than $10, we'll knock another
ten bucks off of everyone's fee (unless you're
already at the minimum, which will be $40.

The
questions for this tournament are completely done, with
fifteen rounds of 21/20, plus a few extras. They have
already been assembled into packets, and are undergoing a
little editing here and there. The difficulty will
probably be a bit easier than the most recent incarnation
of the Chicago Open and its mirrors, and in any
case, much, much easier than the round which I
submitted to that tournament. In keeping with that notion,
and noting recent things said about the distribution
of solo-written tournaments, while I am sticking to
the idea of writing this by myself, I would be
interested in a few volunteers who are willing to take a
look over the tournament (or the questions from
various subjects) for difficulty in exchange for a copy
of the questions.

Apologies for the lateness
of this update. A little snafu with rooms.
Hopefully, the several people who have indicated tentative
interest are still willing to play.
