First off, I don't generally disagree with
Nathan's comments about the questions. I was a reader, and
some times I felt like I was reading three rounds for
the price of one. Same was true for Big Lots, which I
played in. These were some damn difficult trasn
questions. Charlie and his supporters were, as always,
excellent.
I do, however, take issue with Nathan and his
teammates leaving Big Lots midway through the tournament.
If you aren't going to play through the tournament,
don't play at all. I don't care how far they had to
drive; there's just flat out no excuse for that short of
some sort of emergency. In this case, the long drive
excuse carries even less water, because I doubt they
would have been so eager to leave had they not been
towards the bottom of the bracket. All they did was jip
other teams out of one or two matches, in a tournament
that already had a small field, in addition to
increasing the stress for the tournament director. No excuse
at all for that.
