Re: ACF Fall commentary

"But having played ACF many times in
the past, I do know that it is the format where you
hear classic "straight outta Benet's" and other
lead-ins more often than the other formats. If there were
more of these recycled classics, then those who had
heard the clues a dozen times before will have an
advantage."

I can't really say whether or not the questions
were full of "recycled classics," having not played in
many ACF-style events in my quizbowl career. It seemed
that I sat longer on these questions than those at
SLO. It seems to me that if several of the other
experienced players felt the same way, then the questions
gave inexperienced players a better chance then they
otherwise would have had.

Concerning Div II, I
doubt that would have helped any of the teams at
Illinois very much, given that there were only 8 teams.
Having two divisions doesn't mean much when you have so
few teams as to play a double round robin.

It
should also be noted that Roger was not in attendence at
the Midwest event. I would hate for someone to earn
undue emnity.

could get ISU's freshman to an ACF Tournament)
