As
the person who made this suggestion, I should mention
that I intended it more as a speculation than an
"accusation." If it came across otherwise, I apologize. Maybe I
shouldn't have described this scenario explicitly, but I
thought it was important that people realize that an
accusation that a player cheated in some undetermined
fashion does not necessarily constitute an accusation
against a TD, because at least in principle there are
means (such as the one I suggested) by which a player
could cheat without the TD's cooperation or knowledge.
As far as it being implausible, well, as an MIT
student I know there have been recent incidents here of
students breaking into each other's e-mail accounts, and I
imagine the same is true at other schools (especially
schools like HMC which, like MIT, have a high
concentration of computer experts). Of course, though I've
played against him a couple of times (while representing
Berkeley teams), I don't know Cam personally, and as such
can't make any statements (either positive or negative)
regarding either his computer savvy or his moral rectitude.
At this point, I'm pretty willing to accept his own
testimony and that of those who know him, which indicates
that he wouldn't and probably couldn't have done
this.

"If this were a criminal case, I'd say I could not
find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If it were
a civil case, I would say there is not even a
preponderance of evidence against him."

I tend to agree
with this, at least at this point in time. His defense
of course rests on the statement that he's just
vastly better at ACF than at other formats, which is
plausible as long as there's not really any evidence to the
contrary. It will be somewhat easier to evaluate this claim
after ACF Regionals in February, which isn't being held
in the Claremont complex.
