Re: Fav question (bad buzz) from PACE 20

"My "Uh-oh" would be to the fact that I don't
think an R rated movie was appropriate material for a
High School tournament. Of course, by saying this,
I've started another debate."

Again, I think
it's a matter of context. The particular question did
not mention any details of the movie itself, and
instead restricted attention to the vicious critical
drubbing the movie received--all of which is freely
available in "mainstream" media and the Internet. I just
thought that the vehemence and brilliance of some of the
putdowns was so outlandish that it was worthy of a
question; frankly, the ratings aspect didn't enter into my
consideration, because I wasn't relying on the movie
itself.

I agree that going into lurid detail about the
shenanigans and repulsions of an R-rated movie is probably
not a good idea at the high school level. At the same
time, I think it is perfectly legitimate to ask
questions about such "off-color" material, if it's done in
a way that doesn't emphasize the content of the
movie.

P.S. The original question,
for anyone who might be interested, went as
follows:

Ishtar, come back. All is forgiven. I have gotten
better entertainment value from a colonoscopy. You may
end up wanting to take a shower. That is, if youre
still awake. Nothing on-screen is abused quite so
savagely as the audience itself. The most appalling
comedy of the millennium, after Joe Dirt. These are
just some of the putdowns used by critics to describe,
for ten points, what 2001 Tom Green gross-out
film?
