I think that website's rather amusing (I laughed
out loud in the library! hehe) Being fluent in
Ebonics, I also laughed at the tourney advertisement when
I read it (my friends and I can do much better).
What I didn't laugh at was the way this whole thing
has blown out of proportion. In my post, I merely
suggested there be classes in regional dialects at
institutions of higher learning. Everyone has their own slang.
About the eggshells, there have been people fired from
very lucrative jobs because of racist comments (does
Dan Issel ring a bell?) If Dan Issel were Mexican and
the fan white, I wonder if he still would have been
fired...
So, as a social experiment, my next post will be
entirely in Ozark Hillbilly... maybe not, but you get my
point.
