For the record, the Carleton team that won the D2
title in the Midwest Sectional was, as Jason pointed
out, two sophomores and two freshmen. All four were
playing at the SCT for the first time. One of the
sophomores started with our team only this year -- in fact,
he played his first college tournament only the
weekend before, in Madison. The other sophomore joined
our team only towards the end of last year, and
played one tournament -- CUT -- prior to this season.
That debut appearance in one March tournament last
year is thus the only college-level tournament
experience that anyone on our D2 team had prior to this
season. Before the SCT, the members of this team had
played in 5, 4, 2, and 1 previous tournaments ever, an
average of 3 each. If that gave them an unfair experience
advantage over Sudheer's Illinois team, we are very sorry.
