I don't know why players having multiple years of
division 2 eligibility is really an issue at all. If an
upperclassmen is playing in D2 it would seem to me that it is
because A)He/she has little or no prior quiz bowl
experience or B)He/she lacks the motivation to get any
better. Personally, I would WANT to play teams made of
upperclassmen in DII because you know they are there either
because of inexperience or just plain lack of ability. To
say or imply that someone deliberately tries NOT to
qualify for ICT to retain D2 eligibility seems
preposterous. What are you implying? That there are good D2
upperclassmen who like to drub a few teams at sectionals, and
then throw a couple of matches at the end so they
won't qualify for ICT and then they get to come back
and do it all over again next year. How ridiculous is
that?
