Re: Tips for a new club...?

Before the obligatory pitch for our tournaments,
I'll offer a practice suggestion for a new team: get
hold of good (but tougher) high school questions and
start with them for practice. That'll get you more
comfortable with the question styles of NAQT, ACF, and most
indie tournaments while drawing on the knowledge base
you may already have. You can then expand that base
with study material of various kinds. But I find that
high school questions work well for getting a new
program out of the blocks.

And of course we'd love
to have Xavier come to Chattanooga for any and all
of our tournaments. Of our three independent
tournaments each year, one is a "junior bird" restricted to
players in their first or second year on the circuit (and
we don't count CBCI or HCASC participation against
that eligibility), while the other two, including the
Moon Pie Classic coming up on April 27, have fields
separated into two divisions based on experience. Plus --
like Xavier -- we're in Hamilton County near I-75.
(OK, so it's a different state, but we're still only
375 miles away...)

If you need more advice,
practice material, or info on the tournaments, feel free
to e-mail me at steinhic_at_....
