Region 12 had a string of at least 3 non-student
union types as Regional Coordinators; throughout most
of the 90's, in fact. (I don't remember the daily
occupation of the fellow who was coordinator back in the
late 80's when I started attending regional
tournaments...he may have been a student union person.) Doug
Spence, myself, and Sharon Tuttle were all university
faculty who were involved enough in the game that we gave
up time, money, etc. to be regional coordinators.
Speaking only for myself, it was a very good experience,
and I was very happy to be involved.
