Re: A Plea, Re: Beltway Bandits

I don't really mean to have a lengthy discussion
about my personal dissatisfactions, but I do think a
rejoinder will be useful.

I'm not talking about the
_field_ being more difficult. That bothers me not at all.
I'm talking about the _questions_ being more
difficult than some previous years or tournaments.

I
want to know ahead of time that questions are going to
be on the difficult end of the trash spectra a la
trashionals, and not say trash regionals. This is so I can (a)
write a packet tailored to that level so that you might
actually use it, (b) practice on appropriate material, or
(c) stay home because you've raised the bar above a
level at which I can contribute to my team and not
waste both your and my time.

I hope to be at
Matt's tournament at Pitt on the 23rd. But you will see
no similar post after that tournament because it is
announced as ACF regional and/or national level, I expect
it to be hard, I will be practicing that material
between now and then. It does worry me a little that Matt
is bored with questions he's heard before
though...

I didn't mean to imply that the entire tournament
was ACF-ish in content, and I did kick myself for not
catching the Malinkowski reference. And since I said lots
of negative things, let me close with one positive
one: I did like getting the "Dark Side of the Moon"
after Erin asked me to play that CD on the drive down.
But when I tried to play the Pet Shop Boys, Erin said
no. :)
