Tournament announcement

Duke University Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce that it will be
hosting According to Proust: Reality Is Love, Flying Over Our Lives,
an mACF packet-submission tournament to be held on the lovely, if
tree-infested, West Campus of Duke University September 31, 2002. The
tournament format will be simple: One game will be held in each
(academic) building on West Campus, with the winners of each 20/20
untimed round moving one building clockwise, except in Allen Building
where the loser leaves instead. The winner of the Round 12 game in
Allen is the champion! Also, there will be a "super" power (to be
explained in more detail later).

PACKET GUIDELINES: Since this is a Proust-themed tournament, the
packet guidelines are somewhat different from the norm:
---
2/2 Proust (his life, his works, etc.)
2/2 France and French (French grammar, French history, other French
literature, etc.)
1/1 Pop culture/trash of Proust's lifetime

5/5 History
4/4 Science
2/2 Literature
4/4 Squishy science (psychology, sociology, etc.)
1/1 Extra in any of the above four
---
Also, we will be playing the "super" power tossup: Each question
should remain as nonsepecific as possible for as long as possible; the
power mark will be the first uniquely identifying clue. The reward
for a "super" power is 15 points plus a doubling of the first fifteen
points of the associated bonus (so 10 points => 20, but 20 points =>
35).
