ICT Prognostication Game

Okay... and now for something completely different...

ICT Prognostication Game

To anyone who is possibly interested...

Since we don't have a timely way to get rosters posted for everyone
now to do a straight-up 1-32 D2 or 1-36 D1 prediction, I offer this
alternative fun participatory game for ICT participants.

The name of the game is to actually anticipate the questions that
would be asked during the tournament.

This game is not open to members, friends, or family of any NAQT ICT
staff member, question-writer, or official (Duke and UNC people
excepted). Duh!

If you guys are really serious and interested, read on.

Rules:
All you have to do is write down what you think will be an answer to
questions asked at this weekend's ICT according to the following 22-
question distribution:

3 History
3 Literature
3 Science
2 Fine Arts
2 Religion Philosophy Mythology
2 Social Science
2 Popular Culture
2 Geography
3 Current Events/General Knowledge/Choice

Next to each possible answer, you should indicate your guess as to
the possible AUTHOR of that question. Of course, there's no way
everyone can possibly know who wrote what unless you have the entire
NAQT roster (# and name) before you.

TIEBREAKERS:
(1) Predict the final combined score of the championship-clinching
game for the ICT. Please be reasonable.
(2) Predict to the exact second the time remaining when R Hentzel
completes that packet.

Upon completing your ballot, you must email one copy to me and retain
a copy for yourself. Since it is impossible for me to keep track of
everyone's ballots, I ask that you self-enforce.

Rewards/Points system:
Your answer must come up as AN ANSWER to a question asked at ICT, not
mentioned in the text of the question on something related.

10 points for every TOSSUP or one-part bonus answer correctly
predicted each time (I presume there are no repeats, but if there
are, booyah!)
30 points for every 30-20-10 bonus answer correctly predicted, or
appropriate maximum value on a multiclue question (15 points for 15-5)
100 points for correctly identifying the author of that question

TIEBREAKERS (only if necessary):
(1st) For every 10 points off the mark of the outcome of the
championship game, 1 point is deducted from your "regulation" score.
(2nd) For every second off the mark, 1 point is deducted from
your "regulation" score.

PRIZES:
Prizes will be awarded in reverse order of finish... that is to say,
those with the least number of points (most negative if applicable)
will win prizes (meaning the winners will be spared). If there is a
tie in that placement, the winner is selected at random using
completely arbitrary methods.

Possible prize pool (subject to availability):
A bag full of brushed-out cat hair
A free dinner date with Andy Goss at the restaurant of his choice
A bootlegged copy of the "Sounds of the Soul" Academic Decathlon
music CD
A bit less than 10 yards of waxed mint floss
A bunyon shaver
Season tickets to Duke football 2002

[This game is not associated or affiliated in any way with NAQT, Duke
College Bowl or Carolina Academic Team or any other host institutions
involved.]
