Pardon me if I am mistaken, but I think the game did have a
significance. As I understood it, teams started the new bracket with
a record of 1-0 and 0-1 dependant on whether they finished 9th or
10th in their original bracket, not on their original head-to-head
results. For example, we lost to Oxford in the round robin, but
because we finished a game ahead of Oxford in the original bracket we
were awarded a "win" against Oxford in the new bracket. If you had
beaten Georgia in the tiebreaker, you would have started off with an
extra victory in the new bracket.
