I agree in some respects. I have found that I do better in Trash
tournaments than in TRASH tournaments. What exactly this is
attributable to I'm not sure - I think that when the questions are
packet submission as opposed to being written from a single hub, and
thus by more "amateur" question writers (though that's pretty
subjective and not always even true), the style in which they're
written can gear better towards me.
To be fair, I did finish tenth in scoring at TRASHionals, but on the
other hand I was third at Ann B. Davis and first at DePauw's
tournament with significantly higher averages in both cases. Why
exactly this is I don't know, but I have found TRASH to be tougher
than mere Trash tournaments. Not that I'm necessarily complaining -
TRASH/Trash is my favorite format and I always have a great time.
But I can sort of see where you're coming from.
