There are a couple of other factors to consider here.

First is that at TRASHionals, you're probably playing against better 
trash players (on average) than at ABD or DePauw.  Having been to my 
share of ABDs, and to DePauw this year (I finished second- fie unto 
you!), I feel pretty comfortable saying that.  With the more skilled 
competition, you're going to get fewer questions.  

Second is that the questions are written by a very different group.  
Questions written by undergrads, or by any player relatively new to 
trash, could be much easier to get than those written by us TRASH 
folks, who've been roaming the earth since the dawn of time.

OK, we're not that old.  But hopefully you see my point.
